About Us
The business was set up in the spring of 2005 with the objective of producing superior quality beef to market direct to the public both through local door to door sales and on a wider scale through farmers markets.
A herd of Aberdeen Angus was established to produce primarily for local customers however opportunities to expand upon this were limited as there are already a number of producers supplying the farmers markets around Scotland.
On a larger scale we have set up a herd of water buffalo, a unique product which will give us the opportunity to sell through the farmers markets.
The attractions to the water buffalo are countless, the produce a very healthy meat that is lower in cholesterol, higher in mineral content and less than half the total fat content of conventional lean beef and in the words of Chef Nick Nairn they taste “pretty dam fantastic”.
Perhaps the reason for their excellent flavour is they are the same animals they were thousands of years ago as they have not been subject to many of the modern intensive farming practices.
We have also recently introduced a flock of Jacob sheep which will provide the opportunity to sell Juicy Jacob Lamb.
If you like good beef you’ll like buffalo, many people describe it as how beef used to taste!
